June 10, 5 p.m. Works in Process: Choreographers, Composers and Performers; The Center For Ballet and The Arts
(16-20 Cooper Sq, New York, NY 10003)

This event is the culmination of a new choreography/composer lab initiative between Christopher d’Amboise’s choreographic development project, Moving Story and Peter Askim’s Next Festival of Emerging Artists. The Workshop is led by Tony-nominated choreographer Christopher D’Amboise, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Aaron Jay Kernis, Guest Composer Derek Bermel and Artistic Director Peter Askim. The goal is to foster specific, personal and inventive collaboration between composers and choreographers.

At this presentation we will, in an informal setting, hear from the creative team about their experience, results, and visions. We will present some of the lab-challenges that the artists were given and encourage an open discussion as to the nature of collaboration and the challenges facing composers and choreographers.
