ABOUT ALEKSANDRA VREBALOV, COMPOSER OF “ECHOLOCATIONS”
ALEKSANDRA VREBALOV has written more than 70 works ranging from concert music, to opera and dance. Her works have been commissioned and/or performed by Kronos Quartet, Serbian National Theater, Carnegie Hall, Belgrade Philharmonic, and Rambert Dance. Vrebalov, a fellow of MacDowell Colony, Rockefeller Bellagio Center, Djerassi, American Opera Projects, The Hermitage, and Tanglewood, is the recipient of The Harvard Fromm Commission, The American Academy of Arts and Letters Charles Ives Fellowship, Barlow Endowment Commission, and MAP Fund grant. Her works have been recorded for Nonesuch, Innova, Centaur, Records, and Vienna Modern Masters. The score of her most recent work My Desert, My Rose, co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall for Kronos’ learning repertoire 50 For The Future, is available for a free download worldwide as of April 2016. Vrebalov is a freelance composer living in NYC.
The Next Festival of Emerging Artists will be performing the World Premiere of Vrebalov’s “Echolocations” on June 4, 2016 at Music Mountain.
